Webinar: annual update on implementation of the European Immunization Agenda 2030 (EIA2030)

10:00–12:00 (CET) , Online

As part of the European Immunization Agenda 2030’s (EIA2030) monitoring, evaluation and accountability process, WHO/Europe produces an annual technical progress report and annually updates the online EIA2030 dashboard, which visualizes advancements towards milestones and targets at both regional and country levels.

Event highlights

More than 120 representatives from national immunization programmes, partner organizations and advisory bodies joined this webinar to listen to the latest regional progress towards the European Immunization Agenda 2030 (EIA2030) goals.

The programme provided an in-depth look at implementation across the WHO European Region, drawing on findings from the 2025 EIA2030 Technical Progress Report based on 2024 data. Presentations highlighted performance against the 7 impact goal indicators covering disease control, equity and strengthening primary health care. The analysis showed that only 1 indicator is currently on track, while 5 remain substantially off-track and 1 is progressing slowly. The session also examined how Member States have acted on the previous year’s recommendations from the European Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE). Dr Ole Wichmann, Chair of ETAGE, presented the group’s latest conclusions and recommendations to Member States and WHO on actions needed to accelerate progress towards the agreed EIA2030 milestones and targets.

The webinar further emphasized the importance of high-quality, timely reporting, and showed how country-reported data are compiled, visualized and used to inform regional monitoring and decision-making. Post-webinar feedback indicated that almost all respondents found the session useful.

Event notice

As part of the European Immunization Agenda 2030’s (EIA2030) monitoring, evaluation and accountability process, WHO/Europe produces an annual technical progress report and annually updates the online EIA2030 dashboard, which visualizes advancements towards milestones and targets at both regional and country levels.

The aim of this webinar is to update Member States and other EIA2030 stakeholders on EIA2030 implementation progress, share key information and guidance and present the recommendations of the European Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE) to accelerate progress towards EIA2030 targets and goals.

Participants

Invited participants include representatives of all 53 Member States (immunization programme managers, focal points for the reporting of immunization programme performance and vaccine-preventable disease surveillance data), national and regional expert committees (including ETAGE) and WHO headquarters and partner agencies engaged in supporting immunization programmes in the WHO European Region (including the European Commission, European Union Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and United Nations Children’s Fund).

Background

EIA2030 defines a vision and strategy to achieve the full benefits of immunization in the Region. Endorsed by Member States in September 2021, EIA2030 provides a framework for coordinated action to strengthen immunization programmes and reach regional targets.
