Public consultation: Hand Hygiene Guidelines Implementation Toolkit

15 October – 15 November 2026
Reading time:

To mark Global Handwashing Day 2026, WHO and UNICEF are inviting feedback on the draft Hand Hygiene Guidelines Implementation Toolkit, designed to support implementation of the WHO/UNICEF Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Community Settings.

The toolkit provides practical, adaptable resources to help governments, practitioners and partners strengthen hand hygiene systems through two complementary pathways: improving the national-level enabling environment, including governance, financing and planning; and strengthening community-level service delivery, including infrastructure, supplies and behaviour change.

The public consultation seeks feedback on the toolkit's proposed structure and tools, as well as examples of relevant country experiences and resources that could inform its development. Participants are invited to review this consultation document and submit their feedback through the online form by 15 November 2026. The consultation form takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.
