Research capacity strengthening at HRP
Research capacity strengthening is a core component of HRP's mandate as a cosponsored special programme for research in sexual and reproductive health and rights within the United Nations system.
Our vision
A world in which sexual and reproductive health and rights policies and practices across all countries are informed by locally-led and high-quality scientific evidence.
Our goal
HRP’s research capacity strengthening contributes to strong, locally led research ecosystems by supporting researchers and institutions to design, conduct and apply strategic, high-quality and trustworthy research on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Our strategy
HRP’s research capacity strengthening strategy is built on four specific actions, and is underpinned by principles of power-shifting, allyship, co-design, equity and participation. These strategic actions are: capacity-focused HRP research, global and regional networking, tools and guidance for SRHR research excellence and championing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) evidence utilisation.
This means that:
- Every research project HRP engages in will integrate research capacity strengthening objectives and activities
- HRP will leverage its convening power to support the development of global networks
- HRP will develop and disseminate resources for global use in strengthening SRHR ecosystems, and
- HRP will be at the forefront of ensuring evidence gets turned into action.
